EA announced Dead Space 2

deadspace

Visceral Games and Electronic Arts today announced that the award-winning Dead Space franchise will continue to frighten gamers with its stunning sequel, Dead Space 2.

Isaac Clarke returns for another heart-pounding adventure, taking the fight to the Necromorphs in this thrilling action-horror experience. New tools to gruesomely slice and dismember the Necromorphs complement Isaac’s signature plasma cutter, empowering him as he meets new characters, explores epic zero-G environments, and fights against a relentless Necromorph onslaught. Survival isn’t the only thing on Isaac’s mind in Dead Space 2 – this time, he calls the shots.

“We’re thrilled to jump back into the series, making the next chapter in Isaac’s journey,” added Steve Papoutsis, Executive Producer of Dead Space 2. “The infection continues to spread throughout space and our hero Isaac Clarke is the only person able to contain it. There are still loads of Necromorphs that need killing. In Dead Space 2, not everything is exactly as it seems. Expect plot twists that will surprise you and a huge cast of twisted, disgusting monsters that are sure to scare the daylights out of you.”

Conan O’Brien Now Picking on 60-Metascore Games

Conan O’Brien’s really on the video game humor bandwagon – especially if he’s going after disappointing film adaptations and skewering pompous trailer motifs. If the point here is “Avatar: Prepare to be Underwhelmed,” we had that covered long ago.

Then again, some Rock-em-Sock-em Robots stumbling all over each other might be more enjoyable than this game, which had had a rough first week’s reception, and these things rarely get any better.

Left 4 Dead 2 Reviews

l4d2 logo

First Left 4 Dead 2 reviews are coming up today and we can see clearly, we have another hit coming up this Friday (today in US).

Valve did it again and on Metacritic, we have a 92 out 100 based on 11 critic reviews so far.

Summary

Set in the zombie apocalypse, Left 4 Dead 2 (L4D2) is the highly anticipated sequel to the award-winning Left 4 Dead. This co-operative action horror FPS takes you and your friends through the cities, swamps and cemeteries of the Deep South, from Savannah to New Orleans across five expansive campaigns. Play as one of four new survivors armed with a wide and devastating array of classic and upgraded weapons. In addition to firearms, you’ll also get a chance to take out some aggression on infected with a variety of carnage-creating melee weapons, from chainsaws to axes and even the deadly frying pan. You’ll be putting these weapons to the test against (or playing as in Versus) three horrific and formidable new Special Infected. You’ll also encounter five new “uncommon” common infected, including the terrifying Mudmen. Helping to take L4D’s frantic, action-packed gameplay to the next level is AI Director 2.0. This improved Director has the ability to procedurally change the weather you’ll fight through and the pathways you’ll take, in addition to tailoring the enemy population, effects, and sounds to match your performance. L4D2 promises a satisfying and uniquely challenging experience every time the game is played, custom-fitted to your style of play.

Dead Space sequel ˝ready for production in the next few months˝

deadspace

Although EA´s Dead Space (Mirror´s Edge too) came out as a new IP in the middle of the seasone when games like Assassin´s Creed and Call of Duty: World at War recived much more attention, it was a great game with strong atmospher and we all knew sequel would come in some point.

We now know that it´s coming and even more, we could see a multiplayer mode in the game, as we can see from EA’s job listing for a Senior Online Level Designer for Dead Space 2.

Potential candidates need to “Own the level design for the online game, be able to work collaboratively with Creative Director and Online Producer to create extremely fun, satisfying and polished multiplayer levels.”

As for the game:
“The game is in the later stages of pre-production, ready for production in the next few months, with many of the navigational and combat mechanics in place. We have complete autonomy and creative control over our own decisions.”

EA is still quiet about the whole thing and there´s no official word from PR guys but I don´t think we´ll have to wait much longer so we can expect some detailed informations by the end of the year.

Star Trek Online will feature starship bridges and interiors

startrek-1

What kind of a game Star Trek Online would be if there is no starship bridges and interiors in side, I´m asking you now?

Well, looks like Cryptic´s original thought was to leave starship interiors out of the game but then they felt like there was a hole in the game and that the game expirience won´t be the same without the bridges.

Fortunately, Cryptic has decided to implement the bridges an interiors in the game so we are going to see roughly twenty bridges at launch, with many of them pulled out from Star Trek’s most famous ships.

“We didn’t want to have interiors at launch,” said executive producer Craig Zinkievich.

“We thought it was just a little bit too much. We really wanted to make sure we delivered a really deep experience, but your bridge not being in the game, it really felt like a hole in the game, and it was just something that we had to put in.”

Bridges will mostly serve as social hubs in which players can speak with their NPC command crew and other captains but if you want to find more, check out our Star Trek Online interview with Andy Velasquez.
